August Goals

August is here and it seems that Summer has well and truly buggered off! It’s currently chucking it down with rain and the sun is becoming more and more scarce these days. But that also means by favourite season is around the corner and I can bust out the hoodies, boots, comfy jumpers, scarves and layers. Alllll the layers!

I’ve been struggling for inspiration for a blog post and I was making a list of goals for the month and figured it would be a good thing to share. Maybe it’ll inspire others to make their own goals because I feel like it’s an important thing to do (no matter how small they are) to give yourself a sense of achievement and have something positive to look back on when it’s over.

So here’s my list of goals for August. Nothing big, nothing fancy, maybe even a little boring. But they’ll each benefit me in their own way

Drink more water – When I worked in an office and there was a water cooler, I drank it by the bucket load and I felt really good for it. My skin was bright and clear, I lost a little weight, I didn’t feel sluggish or tired but lately, I haven’t really been drinking enough. So I’ve decided I’m going to try and stick to the 2ltrs a day. Might sound simple, but it’s harder than you think. So I’m making sure I have a bottle on me at all times that I can top up. Because when there’s a bottle, I’ll drink it.

Cut the crap – I’m referring to food here. I’m really tired of just going for the things that are convenient and eating shit. So I’m going to really make an effort to use what I have in the house and get creative. This goal will benefit both me and my Fiance because I’m trying to lose weight to reach my wedding goal and he’s trying to reduce his junk food and meat intake to help with his cancer treatment.

Read 2 new books – I love to read, it gives my mind a little time to switch off and go on its own little journey. I think reading is seriously underrated and I don’t really give myself a lot of time to relax; my mind is constantly occupied with something I’m worried about or something I have to do. So if anyone has any suggestions for a good read, let me know!

Exercise at least 4 times a week for 30 minutes – No I’m not planning on becoming a gym nut, I couldn’t think if anything worse than going to a gym. So I recently bought an exercise bike and I’ve been building up my stamina and extending the length of time I’m on it and making good progress. Teamed with daily walks with the dog and yoga this won’t really be too hard to achieve. But I’m really keen to stick to it because I always feel really good when I’m done and will see positive changes in my body/ self-esteem.

Go on 2 date nights with the other half – With his and my work schedule and everything else we have to contend with, and despite me working from home, we don’t really find a lot of time to spend together. We’re already 1 down we had a really nice meal at Frankie & Bennie’s last week and we spent the day together at Whipsnade Zoo on Sunday. I don’t really count that one because it was a day thing. But with everything that’s going on with us, it’s important to make time to just be with each other out of the house doing something.. anything else. Plus it’s just nice to make time for each other.. it brushes off the dust and refreshes things a little.

So there we have it; my August goals. See.. nothing fancy, nothing unachievable. And I think that’s the point – to set goals you can actually hit and build on them.

What do you want to achieve this month? Let me know in the comments below!

  1. We share the same hatred for going to the gym! I’ve tried it so many times and I guess it’s just not for some people. Good on you if you read 2 books within a month, I love reading too, but I’m so slow! Lovely blog post, I love the little numbers.

  2. Dig your voice girl. I like how you said four times a week for exercise, way more realistic than every day. Also, love “cut the crap,” straight to the point, like your writing style + theme!

    • I’ve actually been doing really well! I bought an exercise bike 2nd hand and have been using it every other day. The days I don’t use it I take my dog on an extra long walk or do yoga so it doesn’t feel as routine.

Very proud of myself as I can see my stamina and fitness improving so I’m pretty sure it’ll stick this time!

  3. LOVE these goals! Some of mine are also to drink more water and to exercise more. Another one of mine is to post at least 2-3 blogs a week. I love setting goals. Yours are great! `
