Burt’s Bees “Lipstick That Loves You Back” Review

Burt’s Bees have kindly sent me one of their new lipsticks to try and review after entering one of their competitions online, so I was really excited to get one!
I had a little look on the website but as it’s a brand new product and I don’t believe it’s out in the shops yet and only seems available online, so there wasn’t a lot I was able to find out about it besides the promotional information.  All of their packaging is 100% recycled too which is comforting to know being a green warrior like myself.
I’m already a big fan our Burt’s Bees; I usually have their lip balms in my bag at all times.  They’re completely cruelty-free, all natural ingredients but due to the use of bee’s wax in their products they can’t be classed as vegan.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS

I was sent the shade ‘511 – Magenta Rush’ (pictured) which is a really beautiful raspberry colour.  The packaging is simple with the colour of the lipstick inside the honeycomb design on the lid and the match is pretty close, so you get a good idea of what you’re going to get.

It smells really nice, almost berry like, and glides on the lips smoothly with an awesome colour payoff.  I find with some lipsticks that they can look great in the bullet, but then go on really sheer and can be a real let down.  But this was full coverage with one application which lived up to their claims.

FINAL THOUGHTS

I really like this lipstick.  It’s fun, it’s natural and it’s full coverage with a huge array of shades.
I do have a preference for matte liquid lipsticks as I find their staying power is a lot better than anything else I’ve tried, but I was pleasantly surprised with this one.  Yes it did require reapplication after a few hours and there was a bit of transfer when I was drinking my tea.. but I think with a good lip primer and my trick of translucent powder between applications, the colour will last a lot longer and would be less likely to budge.

My lips definitely felt moisturized all day and there wasn’t any drying or colour cracking, just the fade as the day went by which is true of any lipstick you wear.

For £9.99 I think it’s a pretty reasonable price and I would happily pay this for it.  I will 100% be buying their shade ‘Suede Splash’ since my preference is nude shades and it exactly my cup of tea.
