It’s October. How is it October? Excuse me life, can you slow down a little bit please.. some of us are getting whiplash! 😓
I don’t really feel like I even had a September. I mean to be fair, mine was a bit shit with some crap news, trips to A&E and work stresses. But lets leave that behind us and move on to a fresh new month.
My main achievement of September was ticking off some big Wedding “to-dos”. Accommodation is sorted, catering sorted, florist sorted, a big chunk paid off and we’re off to make our rings on Saturday. So I’ve made some good progress and feel a lot better for it.
I’ve also phased out my Instagram theme into something less irritating and easier to maintain and I did keep the mess in my house to a minimum, at least by my standards anyway!
I still need to find me a decent hobby; but I just got my Raleigh Twenty bike back from having some TLC done on it (thanks Steve!).. so maybe that’s something I can now take out and play with!
So onto October.. I’ve been having a mull over what my goals for the month could be and nothing in particular jumps out, so I’m just going to keep it simple nice and simple so I can still have some achievements to reflect on when November inevitably hits me in the face.
Repaint my Hallway – I only painted it recently, and I already hate it. Go figure. The lighting just makes the green look weird. Sometimes it’s nice and what I had in my head, but when it gets a bit darker it looks sickly and on occasion, florescent. So that’s gotta go. I’ve decided to paint it a nice grey and if I can figure out how to paint the walls up the stairs (because to it’s wayyyyy too high for a human to reach the ceiling) then I’ll take it up there as well.
Get a Haircut – I know right, I’m really pushing the boat out now 😄. I keep putting this off and now it’s at that stupid length where it’s in no mans land and I can’t do bugger all with it. But since I now have the preference of keeping it short.. it grows a lightening speed (oh the irony) so I only get to keep it at the length I like for a little bit, meaning more regular cuts are requires. This is only an issue because I’m not a huge fan of the general population at the best of times so making small talk at the hairdressers is my least favourite thing to do. But it needs doing, so I’m just gunna have to suck it up and go.
Watch at Least 2 Films I Haven’t Seen Before – And I’m not talking about new ones out in cinema. I’m a little behind the times with a lot of films. I’ve only very recently watched Forrest Gump (Yes I know!) and the other day I watch Pulp Fiction for the first time, despite having 2 copies of it in my house (It was awesome and lived up to the hype). So I think the next on my “to watch” list will be Reservoir Dogs and Armageddon. You can refrain from the “what the hell, Laura!” because I’ve honestly heard it so many times; I’m a film hermit okay!
Carve a Pumpkin – I love Halloween. I don’t care that it’s more of an American tradition, I still think it’s fun and I’m a lover of all things spooky so I get a little excited. Not that I think I’ll be doing anything, but I digress!
I want to do something different from the usual Jack-O-Lantern face.. so I’m gunna get myself a proper carving kit and see what I can come up with. This of course means it’ll go on display and will draw kids to my house like a plague of locusts, but that’s not my problem because Karne can answer the door 😋
Work on my Posture – It is absolutely, diabolic. I hunch, I slouch and I suffer for it. Neck pain, back pain, shoulder pain and probably a lot of my headaches are caused by this too. Plus, bad posture makes you look heavier than you are because your organs have nowhere to go but down and out when you’re hunched over like the letter C. So I need to be mindful of how I sit, stand and walk and hopefully I’ll see the benefits.
Anyone else achieve their goals for last month, thinking of making some or have any of their own? Let me know in the comments.
