September crept up on us like a creepy Uncle, then I blink my eyes and half of it’s already gone. What the hell is that?
I’m not complaining though – we’re moving into my favourite months and seasons and I will shortly be rid of the dubious task of cutting the grass every other day!
My August goals were pretty simple and relatively easy to achieve. I did drink more water, I am just shy of finishing book 2 and I did stick to my exercise regime. So I’m pretty happy with that!
So now it’s time for September’s goals. What am I aiming for and what can benefit me? Hmmm.
Tick at Least 2 Things off my Wedding “To-Do List – I’m pretty organised anyway, and Bridebook has been a BLESSING in keeping on top of things, reminders and budgeting. Seriously, if you’re planning a Wedding, get on that shit because it will help you like crazy. Not just with organising and all that jazz, but connecting you to vendors, caterers, photographers, decorators, the works!
But regardless, there’s still a few loose ends with the Wedding planning that are getting on my nerves. So I want to get those tied up and ticked off the to-do list. Hopefully that’ll quell the voice in my head that tells me I have so much to do and so little time! Florist and Suits being the biggies that are niggling at me.
Tame the Mess – I can’t stand mess. If you’d have told my parents I’d be this houseproud when I was living with them they’d have laughed in your face, because you couldn’t see my bedroom floor half the time.
I’m getting a little lax in this department now, so I’m going to make a conscious effort to clear up after myself. I do anyway, but sometimes I’ll leave a few glasses here and there.. put extra crap on the dining room table and leave it to pile up etc. So I’m going to make sure I put things in their rightful place when I get them/are done with it. It’s great to save time and avoid the anxiety I get when my house is a tip!
Phase Out my Insta Theme – Since I started doing a white theme on my Instagram, my engagement and traffic from there went up like crazy. However, a white theme is a pain the the f*ckin arse. It’s limiting, it’s hard work, it takes the fun out of it because you’re constantly having to prep and check that what you’re posting all fits. No. Don’t like it, not about that life.
So I’m going to phase it out to a pastel/soft colour palette type theme purely because it will give me a little bit more freedom with what I post and in my opinion, looks nicer. Unfortunately, Social Media has a huge impact on the success of a blog so where this may seem really unnecessary and trivial to others.. it’s pretty vital and important to me.
Clear my Wardrobe – Autumn is here, so the time for t-shirts, sundresses and most other Summer get ups are over (thank the stars! Summer is not my favourite). Plus there’s a tonne of shit in my wardrobe I don’t wear or can’t part with because “I’ll get into it when I’m thin again”. Yeah alright Laura, keep telling yourself that..
So anything I haven’t worn in the last 3 months is going to charity and the Summer stuff is getting moved up into the loft to make space. The jumpers and layers are going to come down and I’ll be going through all that as well to make sure I haven’t hoarded anything I don’t need/want/like anymore.
To make this easier for when Spring/Summer rolls round again I’ll be using the coat hanger trick. All hooks will face towards the door of the wardrobe.. and if they haven’t been worn or touched (because I’ll put them back in facing the back) then I’ll know and that shit can go.
Find a Hobby – I’ve tried to take up different hobbies and always end up either bored with them or don’t really have the time. So I’d like to find one and stick with it. I’ve given brush lettering a go, bullet journals, sewing, knitting etc.. but I think I’d like to give cross stitch a go! It’s so simple, looks really therapeutic and you can get a cool design to hang on your wall when you’re done!
Whether or not I actually go ahead with that I don’t know yet.. but regardless I’d like to make time for a hobby, something that I can do to channel my creativity and get me away from binge watching Netflix!
So those are my September goals; have you guys got any that you’ve set for yourself? Let me know in the comments below!
